When I move a site off WordPress, I first export the pages together with the category, tag and author archives that WordPress creates on its own and that owners often forget about. These are exactly the URLs where 404 errors most often show up in search engine reports after a move. For each of them I decide in advance whether to keep the page in the new system or set a 301 to the closest section in meaning.
How does a move from WordPress work?
The work goes in three steps, and after each one the client sees a clear result that can be checked with their own eyes. The old WordPress site stays online until the domain switch, so neither visitors nor search engines ever see a half-built version.

Header, footer and the 404 page sit in global zones, which means menu items and contact details need only one edit to change across the site. Images go to the media library with sizes for different screens, and we check every form separately to make sure inquiries arrive.

Can any WordPress site be migrated automatically?

Nobody has tested the import on other themes and page builders yet, so the team moves such sites by checking each page one by one. Can I move a WooCommerce store?
The Seo-Gen CMS import takes the pages, blog posts, menus and media files of a WooCommerce site just as it does for a regular WordPress site. The import skips WooCommerce products, so the Seo-Gen team carries them over by hand together with their categories.
The shop's past orders and customer records can also be carried over, along with product variants and catalog filters. Which of this data the new site needs and how the catalog will differ from the old one is settled after the audit and written into the estimate. In Seo-Gen CMS a product card has a price, SKU, stock status and photos, and Product/Offer structured data passes this information to search engines.
What happens to plugins after the move?
WordPress plugins are not carried over to Seo-Gen CMS, because the system handles SEO, forms, backups, languages and redirects in its own core. Meta tags, URLs and redirects that were stored in plugins are moved into the matching fields of the new system.
If a plugin did something special, for example calculated a service price or showed a schedule, we describe its replacement in the estimate. Such features are built as custom work at UAH 600 per hour, and the client sees the number of hours in advance.
Do I need to renew WordPress hosting after the move?
The new site will not need separate hosting, because hosting, backups and site monitoring are already part of the Seo-Gen CMS subscription. You can stop renewing the old hosting once the new site is launched and all redirects have been checked. Before switching it off, we recommend keeping a full copy of the old WordPress site together with its database.
Can I go back to WordPress if Seo-Gen CMS doesn't suit me?
Yes, going back is possible: the client owns every piece of site data, and we provide a free export whenever it is requested. The export includes page and blog post texts by language, the structure with URLs, original media files, SEO fields, redirects and inquiries.
With this export the site can be rebuilt on WordPress by your own team or on any other platform. The client also receives a final export when the contract ends, so the data is never held hostage by the subscription.

How to keep rankings when you move off WordPress?
